Well, I guess you could say I caught the Niche Building fever. After reading some great posts about a niche site duel challenge between Pat Flynn and Tyrone Shum, I decided I wanted to try this out too. Will I be successful? Who knows; I have no experience on this sort of thing. I’m a link builder who has put together this blog, but outside of that, I’ve never done anything like this.
So I did a little research (I’m not a pro), and after learning some stuff from Tyrone’s Webinar, I decided to give this thing a go. After doing a little searching, I found the Business Process Outsourcing niche had some opportunities. I would take you through my entire process, but chances are you wouldn’t be learning anything more than what was on that webinar. I ended up deciding that the BPO Industry niche was the one I wanted to get into, which after looking at the competition and value, didn’t seem to hard to try. I probably could of found a much better niche, but after a few hours I was eager to get started. Chances are, this will come back to bight me, but I’ve got to learn some time or another, right? What’s wrong with the niche is that the Wikipedia page for Business Process Outsourcing ranks #1, and it might be a little difficult to take down. It’s not optimized at all for the BPO Industry phrase, but nonetheless it should be difficult to take down. What’s good though is that the rest of the first page on Google doesn’t seem at all hard to take down – if all goes right, I shouldn’t have a problem getting to the #2 position.
Just to clarify – I wasn’t challenged by anyone besides myself. I saw something that looked like a ton of fun (in the eyes of an SEO), and wanted to try it out myself. I know I’m just one of a million who has tried this, and I’m hoping I’m not going to join the much larger crowd who’s failed at this. I encourage you guys to try this alongside me, although I doubt anyone will, and if you’re smart, you’ll take some tips from Pat and Tyrone. I’ll check out a few other guys who’ve done this too.
I will be logging the whole trip from start to finish on this little adventure of mine, so stay tuned on my blog. If you want to check out the website, it’s bpoindustry.net. I won’t be linking to it (well, not for a while at least), because I don’t want any of the numbers to get skewed. I’m putting the website up as we speak, so if you’re reading this on the day it was published, give me a few hours to make it look spick and span for the first time.
Wish me luck!
