Hi Kris,

Thanks for your comments Yes, I took inspiration from Richard’s methods that he used to target clients and tried to evolve it into an outreach strategy. Plus, I thought I would include some specific Excel work that people can use in order to make it a bit more effective. The actual concept I have developed is, as far as I’m aware, original (however, there isn’t really such thing as an original idea!) as it is more about the process of both targeting and developing a strategy toward link building amongst the influencers.

Great article Matt! I liked the example you used. I’m wondering if you came up with this yourself? This technique looks very similar to Richard Baxter’s method of doing SEO at SEOgadget. Have you seen it?

Thanks for your comments and thanks for sharing the article across Google+, it didn’t go unnoticed Regarding your question: This method is essentially a form of second tier link building, for example, using this very article as an example, I have gained some backlinks to my other content that is relevant to what I have talked about here. My goal now will be to build further links to this article on Jon site in order to boost the amount of PageRank going through to it.

Holy cow Matt, that is an ingenious approach to link building. Jon only has a handful of guest bloggers on his site, so your strategy clearly worked.

In regards to: “By linking between each of the articles, you are creating a connected web of related data that is passing PageRank to each other. This will then increase the power of the links that you have gained.” – What do you call that technique? We were discussing this amongst our office last week, but didn’t know if there was an industry term.
