Also I’m currently messing with the CAPTCHAs because of this problem. My theme is terrible when it comes to plugin compatibility. Just another reason to buy a proven WordPress framework and not a regular purchased Theme…

My understanding from reading up in Google’s FAQs etc is that the region split is not to be understood to mean “here is where the demand is” but rather “hmmm….these people seem to care more about this topic relative to other things they care about, than other people do”. It doesn’t necessarily mean there are more impressions available in India for the term versus the U.S., it just means people in India seem to care about that topic to a surprising extent. You’d have to determine volume oppty some other way.

That’s an awesome piece of advice. I needed to hear that from someone besides me. I’ve been contemplating trying to sell the site for what its worth to a site about BPO, but I don’t want to give up on it while I’m doing this niche site challenge on my blog.

I currently just launched my second niche site, hopefully this one will have a little more success. I made sure that I can sell affiliate products on this one so I don’t have to depend on Adsense, so we’ll wait and see. The niche site is about a textbook that sells for $200 on Amazon, and at 15% a sale, that’s 30$ each comission. Hopefully this will be what I’m looking for!

If a site isn’t meeting it’s goals or targets you have to learn to cut your losses and move onto your next project. It is all too easy to become attached to a project even if it is making a loss financial or otherwise and waste energy on a loss cause.

Glad to see the excitement is building for my link building post . Luckily the post is about white hat & free techniques, so you’ll probably enjoy it!

I’m also looking to establish a niche authority site, but I just don’t have the time. I might create another niche site and log my progress, but we’ll see!

This sounds just the mistake I would make Jon! Never mind, as others have said – your rankings are looking good ( this is why I’m looking forward to your post on Link Building ). I have to work a lot harder at my Link Building, especially for a brand new domain, as I’m sure a few of my new sites have been penalized by Google, although I’m not too sure why….
As I think I’ve mentioned before, I will soon be starting my niche authority site, which will be in the fitness market. After rather too long researching, I’ve found a perfect WordPress theme I feel will allow me to do exactly what i want with my site. It’s an investment of £62 of which I need to save for ( spent too much lately ) but it’s well worth it.

Firstly, don’t be too disheartened. Whatever link building strategies you took on obviously worked and didn’t or haven’t so far raised a red flag over your site. So keep this going, google likes to see momentum remember.

Secondly, have you got any ranking data for the the search engines you should be ranking in?

I would start to research the pages ranked on page 1 of your target search engine. What do these sites sell, if anything? Is there going to be a language barrier?

If language is not a problem and your rankings are strong or are increasing, Adsense could be a good way to go. Adsense looks at the users previous visits and displays ads based on this along with a mixture of adverts about your site.

Once you have adsense running, check out which ads appear. If ads are being placed on your site which directly link to your content, why not search for affiliate products these advertisers are selling – does this make sense?

And lastly, if you never made this mistake you would still have this mistake to make. So take heart from the fact you are moving forward.
